Music Review - Inside Out EP

So Lizzy does movie reviews, so I feel the need to review things too.

Inside Out EP

Artist: Emmy Rossum
Label: Geffen Records
Best Track: Slow Me Down - too much echo, but pretty accapella sections
Worst Track: Stay - the sound of her breathing isn't actually music
Genre: Pop
How I'd Explain It: Alternative Soft Pop With A Bit Too Much Echo
Review: I'm not really sure what I think of this EP yet. I can't make a detailed review because I don't actually own the CD, but iTunes gives a good preview of the three songs she's released so far, so I'm working off of that. All three songs, though different in melodies, have one thing in common: apparently someone forgot to turn off the echo effect on Emmy's karaoke mic. On some songs, like Slow Me Down, it would sound very cool since most of the song is accapella. But on the others it just sounds cheap, like someone said, "Well, we can't think up enough music to fill the gaps in the songs, so let's just fill 'er up with the sound of Emmy trying to catch her breath!" Remember: just because it sounds good on one song, it will NOT sound good on the entire CD. Overall I'd say that this looks like a bit of a hit or miss: some may think its comforting, breathy sounds are pretty, and some may just fall asleep before they make it through the first song. If I was looking for a romantic CD for a video project or anniversary, then this would be it, but it's not something that I'd buy just to listen to.
What to Use It For: Cheesy fan-made music videos, romantic comedy soundtracks, yoga for those under 21
