Well following my teaching I was heading back to the office - it was really busy and the traffic was so ditzy and monday with folks on their mobiles, eating Gods knows what

Now Leeds has an inner ring road - it is an urban motorway - it is a dual carriage way and people drive like idiots most of the time

so the road goes under the city in a series ( Read more... )

I despair I really do, fancy beeping, probably scared the poor woman silly and made the risk of an accident even worst.

There are some good people other there tho Moon, when I was pregnant - overdue in fact, R and I went to PC world, while he drooled over stuff we couldn't afford, I wandered around the shop.. and started with some breath taking braxton hicks contractions - I sat on a chair and was breathing through them when a lady came up to me and asked if I was ok and if she could do anything for me. Bless her.

And I will never forget the lovely man in Huddersfield when I visited who took my trolley all the way onto the platform because he didn't want to leave me to struggle with Rye and the trolley - even though his train was coming into the station.

So take heart there are some good and decent folks out there- shame there isn't more really.

I know the bloody beeping - gods I could have got done for noise pollution myself shouting what wankers they were as I tried to do something I was so so cross ! And I kept thinking if she jumps or suddenly becomes more lucid yes she could fall or suddenly become aware where she is - you dont know what was wrong do you - yu are getting a snapshot and to handle such a situation takes skill and thought about all the potential outcomes of even going near her never mind about noise and visual stimulii ! plonkers poo and nits on them all !

Oh I remember about the guy who helped you - and yes there are some good people in the world but there are too many who are so self absorbed and so dam blinkered and those need a dam good boot up their egoscentric backsides - although they would probably then go on and blame someone else for oppressing them ha ha !

with love and respect and hope you and little one are ok

Aunty Moon and the STOP TYPING WOMAN AND FEED ME ! Cats !

Lovey, haven't you realised yet that the majority of people simply dont give a fuck.

Sorry if that sounds harsh but you and I have spoken SO often about similar. How people treat others like they are shit. How they treat others as if they owe them a living.

Society isnt to blame for this. Individual people are and most individuals SUCK, big time.

Like SD I get furious when its the elderly, animals and kids that are effected and neglected, sadly this isnt true for most.

Love you loads and sorry I havnt been in, but my hair looks great and is now a kind of fluorescent red/aubergine, with a fringe and rather fetching thingummy bits down my face

REALLY shallow of me to mention, but I thought it might amuse you and take your mind off the terrible state of humanity :(

Honey well done for spotting her in the first place, and then for doing something about it. I think this throws back to the issue of responsibility - and most of society can't even manage personal responsibility - let alone responsibility for other humans - It's not that people didn't see her, they obviously did as they beeped horns etc - but that's where their thoughts ended. Not my problem! No understanding that she was probably confused, lost, or maybe even demented - she wasn't a person to them, but a hazard and a nuisance - no one saw her as a relative or even a person.

I'm sure she will be fine - and I hope for her carers that lessons have been learned. And if even 1 of those drivers who passed by and did nothing reflects on today and her brief impact on their life - and decides that if there is a next time they will do something about it - then perhaps it was a worthy event.

Oh honey I don't think it was a professional issue for me - no one knew I was a nurse - I could have driven by. As you know, I was more worried professionally AFTER the event. Something in my core just told me I had to stop - no argument, no inner debating - and in the end it changed the outcome, be it only for a short time.

Few do this sort of thing for thanks - but that's not to say it isn't deserved and you tell me often enough I don't take things on board and brush off compliments - yes it's bloody hard to accept them sometimes - but what you did was important, and changed lives - who knows what might have happened had you not called the police.

I can power walk for a few miles at least - perhaps we could pull an aeroplane with our teeth or something equally silly!

Did you see the news today?

There was some sort of enquiry into the death of a mentally ill chap a few years ago. He was hit by two cars after being left to wander aimlessly in a distressed state along the A1. The report said that dozens of people saw him wandering and confused. 4 people actually reported it. The world needs more folks like you and those four.

Ive only just got online and am only passing so haven't read all the replies so please forgive I am reapeating everybody like a broken record.

We make it a concious decision ot report "things" even if it's just the rubber strip off a blow out on a lorry. We've got the the point we worry that the police might think we are odd, for calling about all sorts, everything from random old ladies ( of which we also have ahd a few) to cars on fire on the hard shoulder.

But the few times we haven't called straight away, like the instant we have seen it, we are wracked with guilt, knowing in our heart that the chances are verybody else is thinking the same thing, that thing being "Oh somebody else will do it".

It's the lack of social responsibility that is wrong with the world, and if us bugging the police practically every long distance journey we make, but the is that is the counterbalance, then so be it, I would rather stand up than stand down, if you know what I mean?

I Know exactly what you mean honey and you are spot on - I have a rather photographic memory for number and letter sequences and number plates are a thing I can remember on the smallest of views ( ... )
