The Golden Globes Anti-Awards

Jan 16, 2011 23:28

Well, the show got off to a great start with Ricky Gervais's edgy insult humor--which no one in the audience seemed to get. Let's hope they never have to attend a roast; talk about poor sports. He was the highlight of the show. (Which means he won't be hired back next year.) That and Robert DeNiro's pointed speech ( Read more... )

WTF indeed! If Colin won, Geoffy should've too! Maybe they didn't wanna give it to 'em both so they picked one! XD Wish it had've been teh Master instead... but I'm glad Colin came through with the goods!

I know, they should really have shared that award cuz Colin was playing off of Geoffrey most of the time! Geoffrey seems like a very generous actor ... he can somehow manage to steal a scene yet still make his castmates look good.

I wuv your icon. "Aww" indeed. That's from Shine, isn't it? So sad Lynne Redgrave is gone now; she was one of my favorite actresses.

That's very true. How does he manage to do all that!? Some kinda Rush-tastic magic methinks!

Yep, that's my favourite scene in Shine I think... it's just too cute for words. 'Twas on TV a few weeks back but I missed it. And Mystery Men was on a couple of nights ago... I only realised when it was already half-way through. I thought it was about time they showed a Geoffy movie on tv though, I thought they were definitely boycotting him there for a while!

Firstly, Susan, I want to say a big THANK YOU for your lovely Christmas card and fascinating letter. I devoured it as soon as I got it a few days before Christmas. I’m so glad that you’ve found a nice place to live and are settled. I’m so sorry that I haven’t said thanks until now. I haven’t sent any cards this year but I may send a little belated something in the next few days ( ... )

The King’s Speech was overlooked but I’m not surprised. Hollywood gets more and more full of itself by the year - and the fact that this was a British (and Australian, I guess) production didn’t go in its favour. Holywood is biased towards American films, just as the BAFTAs are biased towards British films. No doubt The Kings Speech will clean up in London ( ... )

Great to hear from you again, Ali! Wow, that's a lot to answer. And I will. (Yay! Someone as verbose thorough as I am!) But I really need to be getting to bed now so as to get on a semi-normal schedule to make it to my daytime doctor's appointment on Wednesday. But I just wanted to address one thing straight away:

"Hmm, Susan, it seems to me that in order to get an email read out you’ll have to make some sort of joke (probably not about Craig - he probably gets tons of those, even though he is far more self-deprecating than other presenters - I’m guessing because he’s Scottish). It would have to be a lewd joke, maybe something to do with older actors... I dunno, but I’ll think about it. Maybe if you said you were from Scotland it might also help ;P.

No, he definitely doesn't read every e-mail he gets on air, just the ones he can make a joke out of. And I'm not suggesting we try to get read on the air. The reason I'm suggesting it is cuz I'm sure someone on his staff is reading all the e-mails he gets, just to keep a pulse on what ( ... )
