And yet...he's completely right. Judges shouldn't be the ones making abortion and gay marriage legal. That's not democracy.

There's this thing that transcends democracy. Its called rights. For example, if 55% of the voters decide to make a law that guys with long blond hair should be shot on sight, we have these "elitist" judges that can throw the law out ( ... )

By the way, I'm a big fan of decentralized government and regional differences in culture being ALLOWED. If it's offensive in SF, outlaw it in SF. If it's offensive in Georgia, outlaw it in Georgia. People tend to gravitate to where they fit in. I'm a fan of gay marriage. I hope it's never legalized or criminalized nationwide, however.

I'm heartbroken.

How can someone with an imagination that I idolize say this with the same fluidity?

It sucks when smart people have screws loose. I'm so tired of this debate, so I won't continue it from there.

But Orson Scott Card? Really?

I am literally saddened. I love him, or his imagination and writing style anyway. But this article, in his gait, just slipped through my brain and dulled all my enthusiasm for him.

I am crushed. A literary heartbreak.

lol
