Can't wait to hear your report on the ranch! How many cowboys did you injure? :-)
I like the look (and sound) of your Clay Stanley! "Manly Stanley" is not too bad, but will Clay be putty in your hands? *giggles* just like Berte. Oh, you're on to something. The puns are practically writing themselves.
Good luck with the historic writing contest. Is that something local, or national? When do they post results?
I don't recall the Charlie contest. Was that the one about his eye color?
You're sweet to want to post even more elaborate comments on the story I wrote for you b-day, but I honestly don't expect them. You already said you had a good laugh, and that's all that I was aiming for. So don't worry about it (really!) - but if you do want to say more, could you please let me know so I'll go and read?
Apparently it helps get you off the slush pile if you can even shortlist in this comp, and the HNS carries weight so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Winners are announced Sept 30, but the long list and the short list are announced prior to that.
The Charlie story was before the eye one - ages ago. It was with Charlie and girlyswot. I offered gift certificates for the winners. I have to dig up that post now, but I've been terribly remiss in not following up on it.
YAY! You entered your Gettysburg piece and a Spartan flash fiction, too! I'm so proud of you. *hugs* I'm keeping good thoughts for both pieces.
So Clay Stanley is a model for one of your Spartans. Now you've got me wondering which one. It is Alexandros? Theron? Andreas? But, hey, if he inspires your writing, it's all good.
WELCOME BACK! I hope you're getting settled after your travels. Looking forward to hearing more from you soon.
Well, Alexandros started out more like Brad Pitt in that movie where he played Achilles, but he's morphing into something else in my brain right now. I'm thinking Mr. Stanley might be a future love interest for Melaina, during the time where she thinks Alexandros is dead. That part is still very vague, though. Andreas is more like Gerry Butler's Leonidas - older, darker hair, a stockier build, and some facial hair though not as much as Butler had in the movie. My mental images of Theron (whom I'm changing to Nikolaos, I think) and Alexandros are not set well yet, especially since I've not written that story for so long now, except for scenes with Andreas and Melaina. *sigh* I hope next week gives me some good writing time.
I'm so glad I've gotten those stories sent off - less on my plate and more time for Sparta. Thanks for your encouragement!
I'll send you a catch up email probably later today! *waves*

Mmm, yes - Mr. Stanley is quite studly. :D
I didn't injure any cowboys, unfortunately. But I didn't really have to - they're already plenty scarred.
Nice pun!!! LOL.
The writing comp is here:
