"Literally."  It means, actually, it means something that is completely true, as in,"I literally spent half the night in the studio on Saturday" or "the fainting goat literally fainted with surprise.  "I was there from about 8:45 until 2:15 or so; the goat really did faint.  Literally does not mean very, or a lot, or seriously.  So you cannot say ( Read more... )

actually one of my professors freshman year told me the roots of the word are in "literature" like um literarily i guess..that has since confused me.
