Hmmmm - I must be doing something wrong

Knitting on a round with double pointed needles!  Aaargghh !!!

There has to be a knack to this - if there is PLEASE let me know.

The two things that the girls are nagging me for are these really cute little knitted toys which are both made on dp needles.  Well...................I tried it myself using common sense and thought, this cant be right.  So I watched and read a couple of tutorials online and was pleased to see that I had got the basics ok, but what I have produced is rubbish - absolute rubbish !!

It seems impossible to keep any kind of tension and there are these big gaps where the wool is between the needles, if you see what I mean, no matter how tightly I seem to pull it, they are still there and it has driven me nuts !!!   Plus its like knitting with an octopus!!!  There has to be a knack to it - but if there is I have no idea what.

So - does anyone have any advice or hints and tips to offer me, pliz ??
