There is Tax Planning for the year ahead starting in November, and then there are Year end financial things all December and January... Like W2s, 1099s, Payroll and Sales tax returns...
It is a never-ending cycle from hell, and moving and having acute bronchitis for the first two months of the year kind of make everything worse...
Plus, there is this jackoff of a Manager here... He's going to be made partner at some unidentified date (which sucks so much ass--I cannot even begin to tell you) and he is making everything SO much FUCKING WORSE!!
I don't know exactly how you feel (tax season) because I don't work for an accounting firm. I work for Wells Fargo Foothill as a staff accountant...and the worst time of the year for me is the end of the year. Which I'm sure you could agree with. I went through my first year/end close with Foothill and it was nothing short of insane. I must have paid 500-1000 expense reports in the month of December. The part of my job right now that is causing me problems is trying to find those lazy bastards that didn't turn in their receipts...I can't wait to go back to school again so I can begin teaching! ACCOUNTING SUCKS ASS!
I feel you. I really do. I work in Accounts Payable for the whole year and back up in the Tax assembly department for Tax season. I have been working non stop since November. Year End stuff, W2s, 1099s, Payroll, Sales tax, and now the actual tax returns for the clients. And then there's City Business Licenses and all sorts of other shit.
ARRRGGGH. I'm so tired!
Try doing all of that and upgrading TWO softwares (read: doing double entry of everything in two different departments just to make sure that the new systems are doing everything we need them to be doing)
When I first started the last company I worked for we were doing double entry into SAP and Peachtree while cutting checks out of peachtree. It made a humongous mess at 1099 time. I don't think I ever want to go through that again...I was typing 1099's on a typewriter!

You're only a month and some change away. How could you be doing taxes in November? The year isn't even over yet.
