Just A Thought [Poem]

trying out some juxtaposition XD not sure how well it worked but eh, i'm busy and can't be bothrered to do things well. /oh excuses.

We came to feel money had nothing to do
with the happiness we had, through and through
we ran through the towns without our knees while we could
as no-good’s and hoodlums with futures like gun powder
gun powder

We sang TV show theme songs and classy show tunes
carving our aspirations into the walls of our rooms
with our fingernails, assuring both of our moms
that we’d elsewhere when we set of the atom bombs
atom bombs

We talked about college or university
and how in a couple of years we were bound to be free
off in adulthood without precautions or doubts
with our student loans to rack up the body count
body count

We crawled out of our windows and onto our rooves
where the stars hung above us in well-formed arrangements
like soldiers rim rod straight, packed in side by side
ready to grab a gun, get up and fight for us
fight for us.

growing up, war, poem, contrast, gun powder
