Someone must have deleted your comment- but miraculously, LJ notified me! Why don't you post this in some of the history communities? I'm sure many of us feel his loss sorely.
I felt a unusual connection to him from the first time I read him, but I am sometimes sensitive to these things.
I deleted the comment, when I posted it, instead of the picture all I got was the little box with the red x mark. So I thought I had miss wrote the tag or something. I was starting to be a migraine, so I decided to log off and rest my eyes for awhile. I'll posting it again tomorrow, or if you want too, feel free to use/post it yourself. I would like credit--but is not necessary.
I first heard of Mr. Foote from the Ken Burns Civil War documentary; and just totally fell in love with his accent. Such a real, true southern drawl; and then I loved how he told little stories about the men who fought-to me it showed that he thought of them as people and not just dusty old historical figures. And he certainly knew his history. The world truly lost a great man.
