TITLE: JD/Cox Drabble 1
RATING: PG
SUMMARY: Just the jumping off point of my series of JD/Cox fanfics.
AUTHORESS' NOTES: Summary says it all. Been getting heavy into JD/Cox and wanted to write a big long epic fanfic about it myself, but it's all comming out as bits and pieces of various fanfics. So I'm just doing collective drabbles, you understand.
Dr. Cox growled and clenched his jaw in abject fury as he saw the spectacle Newbie was making of himself in the lobby with his new boyfriend.
“Down boy,” Carla laughed as she took the clipboard from Dr. Cox's hand. “Just because you're jealous doesn't mean you can beat up Bambi's boyfriend.”
Dr. Cox just growled again and tried to school his features into annoyance rather than fury as JD came over to the desk, his face still flushed from the send off Charlie (his new man) had given him.
Dr. Cox turned to him, allowing his eye to twitch in aggravation before giving his patented nose flick and arms crossing over his chest.
“Well, Clarabelle, it looks like you've finally found the man of your dreams. However, touching as that may be, public displays of gratuitous man love in hospital lobbies is uncomfortable for the rest of us and somewhat frowned upon even if this is California. Now then, can I trust you to do your job without sighing and pining over prince charming over there, or are you just gonna be annoying and lovestruck for the rest of the day?”
“I wouldn't exactly call Charlie the man of my dreams, the deciding factor on whether or not I'd go out with him was the fact he had red hair,” JD replied nonchalantly. Dr. Cox leaned his hand down slightly to comb his fingers through his reddish blonde hair, smirking a bit.
JD looked at Dr. cox incredulously and his head tilted upwards.
“Oh Newbie... I don't suppose I could get you to take over my shift next Saturday... you see, there's this Redwings game on TV that I've been waiting for, and I just can't miss it.” Dr. Cox, wearing a baseball cap along with his normal hospital garb.
“I dunno Dr. Cox... I kind of have plans for Saturday.” JD replied slowly.
Dr. Cox whipped off the baseball cap and combed his hand through his hair in slow motion.
“But I could cancel, my brother being terminally sick isn't THAT big a deal...”
“Oh please, like strawberry blonde would coax me into anything. Pure ginger baby!” JD yelled as he snapped out of the daydream.
“What was that Newbie?” Dr. Cox asked, his hand no longer tasseling his hair.
“N-Nevermind - were you saying something?” JD asked.
“I said, if you're done wasting my time, you should get out of your street clothes and start your shift. As you're already 10 minutes last.” JD looked at his watch and scurried off. Dr. Cox looked around the lobby and noticed that Newbie's redheaded hunk was still hanging around, watching Newbie scurry down the hall just a bit too appreciatively for Dr. Cox's taste. Dr. cox decided to have a word with him...
You see, JD had come out of the closet (both literally and figuratively) about 2 ½ months ago. He'd actually holed himself up in one of the supply closets while debating on whether or not he should share this revelation with his friends. Eventually they had all come banging at the door in concern and JD decided that if they all cared enough to come and fetch him then it'd be safe to reveal what was going on.
This announcement had very little effect on anyone. Turk claimed he'd already known and was squicky about it, but he'd live. Carla said she'd been surprised when she found out he'd actually slept with a girl period. Elliot wondered neurotically about all the sex she and JD had had. And Dr. Cox... well, he didn't say anything much at the time, except for a few sarcastic remarks about fairies and little girls, but you could see the mix of sadness and rage in his eyes every time JD let on he had a new boyfriend.
