I finally saw the 1996 Doctor Who movie. I was actually Kinda impressed so here's some of my thoughts on it.
I'll start this off by saying that I was completely taken by Paul McGann's portrayal of The Doctor. It's a hard role to take up under the normal circumstances of the show, but he had to assert himself as "The Doctor" so many years after the show finished airing. He was lovely, and I have to admit I fell a little in love. Actually it was more like my friend and I kept yelling "OH MY GOD HE'S SO CUTE CAN I KEEP HIM YAY!!!!"
I really think the movie could have been something marvelous if The Master's plot wasn't so...horrible. Even with the blindingly painful to watch 90's effects. If the line "I WANT YOUR BODY" hadn't been spoken so many times, who knows how much better it could have been. I really wasn't rockin' the Terminator Glowy-Green Eyed Master.
A third thing that really broke my poor shipper brain was just how hard I shipped Eight and Grace. I didn't think I would ship them at all.
In the end...
Eight was charming
I was really moved by The Doctor
The Companion saved the day
The Master sucked balls
The TARDIS was either awesome or horrible
and
Why was The Eye of Harmony in the TARDIS?
