1) You see more than you ever expect to see. You never think you'll ever see your dad's balls, and then one day BAM! There they are. And your mom is about to throw a diaper on him because he can no longer stand up long enough to use the toilet.

2) Your family members become your best friends

I can only imagine. The death thing, I get. I have recent experience with that. But the lead-up, and the parents-who-are-each-other's-rock thing? That has got to be so hard, and I am sorry.
