Clearly, meningities (sp?) immunization shots make me sentimental.

I never meant for Kyp/Sanar to happen.

Let me stress: Never.

Even after Sanar got a major role. Even after I decided to write a sequel to RotJ/Dejarik.

Quite frankly, I hate stories that start with a couple hating each other (for a good reason, such as Sanar's), and then winding up in love. I've seen a hundred of them written tear-your-hair-out-and-cry-ingly bad.

So why did I start? Indulgence. KS (and, eventually, Mel) kept insisting something was there, and I liked writing them together because of their verbal sparring. So...I threw them together some more. After all, I *did* want Sanar's redemption to come into play, and Kyp had similar emotional trauma through his life, so he could reach her in a way not even Jaina could.

But...love? Oh, please.

Writing "In the Morning"--even more than CitR, which made me take Kyp/Sanar seriously as a romantic possibility--is completely converting me.

Never mind how much fun it is to write them together; never mind it's never a dull moment. Never mind that they gave me a chance to write ItM and its prophecy; never mind...the-stuff-that-happens-at-the-end-that-I-can't-tell-you.

Reasons why Kyp and Sanar have something beautiful:

.:When everything else is falling apart, and when Sanar is feeling useless or helpless, he makes her want to fight. *Always*. For Sanar, that is perhaps the single most important thing. She might feel drained, but she'll always rise to the verbal sparring; and she's starting to take him seriously.
.:They both have--and this snuck up on me--remarkably similar pasts. Both were orphaned (Kyp literally, Sanar half-literally half-figuratively); left on their own to grow up in the worst of living conditions; faced the Darkness inside of them--and lost a significant battle, only to slowly, painfully win the war; to lose everything and pick up the pieces.
.:Both are fierce fighters, so neither will allow themselves to simply shadow the other. Kyp may fall in love first, and spend years or more trying to make Sanar fall in love with him, but he won't compromise, just like she won't.
.: Kyp and Sanar both need a constant challenge in their romantic partner; both, of course, can love and fall in love with steadying presences, but at the end of the day, both are fighters. If it was easy, they would love, hold on, then keep going. And I don't think I need to say that Kyp/Sanar is a challenge :P
.:This one isn't so much a reason as reassurance: I tend to be leery of fire/fire romances, but Sanar and Kyp are one of the few exceptions that I think will turn out well for the couple. As passionate and fierce as they are, both are capable of great love and tenderness. Once either of them gives their love to another, it is forever--especially Sanar.

And...dummit...I can't say anything else about this pairing until ItM is over. But, just so you know.

All stupidity and sentimentality I blame on: today's immunization shot (which *hurt*), my sleepiness, and my busy!and!with!chaos! mind.

kyp/sanar, writing, in the morning
