One of the easiest tricks I've found to looking good and being confident on a frugal budget is having a couple of eye catching items or accessories in your wardrobe. Things that when you put them on make you feel great. Personally, I think that's the important part about it - that they make you feel great. It's not about whether they are in fashion or even flattering; if it makes you smile when you wear it, you've found your statement piece. That way, if you're tired of the same clothes, or some of your clothes are looking a little the worse for wear, you can add that and hey presto, instant smile!
For the record? My statement pieces are a brightly coloured chunky wood necklace that I picked up for £2.50 and my bright pink tie dyed harem pants which I am pretty sure are more suitable for someone half my age and half my size. But, I don't care because they are comfortable and make me grin from ear to ear when I put them on. My new motto is "no one can be uncertain with bright pink tie dyed harem pants".
