It would be interesting to compare this with Haredi Judaism (and perhaps Orthodox Judaism as a whole). It'd be interesting to know what makes those who leave decide to, as well as vice versa. I know a number of people who come from Orthodox Jewish families who have left that tradition (and partly the culture surrounding it), as well as people who are part of it. I think I know why those who left did so (because they tend to talk about it a lot) -- I should ask my friends who have stayed if they've ever thought of leaving or how they've dealt with people who have.
