More power to you. I'm always afraid the Powers That Be are gonna revoke my Girl card because I cannot stand Jane Austin's stuff.

So what are the requirements to qualify for a Girl Card?

I'm not sure, but I bet loving Jane Austin is one

Voluntarily carrying a purse is probably one.

Not cringing everytime your daughter insists on pink (fill in the blank) is, too.

Wow, they're REALLY gonna revoke my card!

jane austen does nothing for me, i remember no plots, no characters, nada from the summer i read austen. any knowledge i have of her work is from the movies and mini-series. thank ghod they adapt well to screen.

therefore i must ask was not Lady Catherine De? an evil overlord?

your local library, if it still exists, should have austin novels for borrowing.

Lady Catherine was not an Evil Overlord so much as a micro-managing nag with influence. Her ability to state the authoritative opinion is matched by Mrs Bennet's opinions. Its just that Lady Catherine has the title and money to push her opinions on others. Mrs Bennet can only nag and be ignored.
