I realize now that I am woefully uninformed about recent Japanese dramas because I've been watching/trying to keep up with a lot of Korean dramas and I miss them. most of my j-drama recs concern johnny's. you know me and my johnny's, haha. but anyway, have you seen 'maou'? i really liked it a lot. i also recently started 'yasashii jikan', and it looks promising even though i don't like nagasawa masami at all. >_> 'mother' is supposed to be really good as well, though i haven't seen it yet (and it's not johnny's! :D). oh, and 'my girl' was adorable.
only watched the first episode of freeter, but what i've heard it's really hit or miss. some love it, others hate it. i've seen saigo no yakusoku, and it wasn't AMAZING or anything. it's more or less a two-hour arashi eye-candy fest, which... isn't bad, just not the stuff great dramas are made of, rotfl.

I'm pretty sure the world would spin backwards if you stopped liking Johnny's. :P I meant to watch Maou back when it was airing and then I totally forgot about it, but I will add it to my list! My Girl is the one where Aiba's a father, right? I still can't picture him with a child but I guess that's the whole point of the drama. XD
Yeah, I figure I'd watch saigo no yakusoku simply to see all the Arashi members in one drama - Pikanchu was kind of fun, even if those movies were TOTALLY RIDICULOUS, so this one can't be that bad (or so I hope.)
