And the funniest part about it is, there's a HUGE chunk of America that wants a classical heroic (in the ancient Greek tragic sense) icon like that, even if it has to be one cast in contrast to the jaded 21st century. There's a reason Jack Bauer is such a successful television character and firemen are revered everywhere they go. Heroism is not passe. If Steve Rogers -- just the former soldier minus the superhero persona -- was real and he ran for president, he'd sweep all 50 states (DC would still go for the Democrat, but it'd be close).
