Unsure

Let me start off by saying, there has been nothing in particular that has happened to cause this... but there are times when I'm not sure I'm the best match for Jewel.   I will do my best by her, but in all honesty, I know I"m not as confident with her as I could be.   Of course as

when you had your first child, I'm sure there were times you looked at his little face and wondered what the heck was going on, if you were really up to this....and maybe someone else would have done better.

It doesn't mean you're not a good match. It means you are human.

Jewel NEEDS a human mom. {{HUGS}}

Thank you both. I needed to hear that what I was feeling is natural..and that Jewel will be fine with me.

The past two days had been real stressful due to a mandatory staff training day (which I always hate going to 'cause its on the butt end of the county compared to where I live..and the traffic going and coming back is a bear). Still, its over for another year.

I'm kinda surprised you went and got a bird at this point, given how busy and demanding your kid-filled life is already. Where on earth do you find the time?

But then, personally, I've never been a big fan of birds as pets. Every one I've known has been messy, temperamental, and not terribly kid-friendly. And you apparently have to watch it with their droppings around kids through adolescence.

Well, I didn't get one so much as became a foster-parront. (lol)
All we have to do for the two months is to love and feed her... if it works out then we'd be asked to adopt her. And if it isn't working out, then at least she's had our love for the time we've had her..and we've had the experience of a bird in the house with no crazy outlays of cash like buying the bird, the cage,etc. Foster birds either come with their own cage or Phoenix landing provides one.

And birds are messy, tempermental... and as far as the last... some are more kid-friendly than others.

And a bird is not so much for the kids as for me...and for me there's something about them.
