heh. wondering how long it'd take you to find that.

I can't wait for Rise of the Videogame to cover wargamming....

Wow... actual veteran decries people playing videogame soldier. No surprise there. Was there a point beyond saying what some of us have known for a decade or more?

Also, videogaming is not wargaming... or roleplaying. Final Fantasy has as much in common with roleplaying as Magic: The Gathering... nothing.

that's a pretty bold statement.

in both you are assuming a role, though magic is far more nebulus and sterile.

video games, at least once you get into the 90's with RTS and sims come form the same source, the need for the military to be able to train.

sims come from trying to train pilots, wargaming from trying to train admerals.

after that you get historical gaming, then fantasy gaming (because chainmail's magic rules were so they could do some mythical stuff) and that sorta, kinda lead into D&D...

....where Wizardry said I can do that so much better on a puter, and then eventually FF I ripped it right off and then a whole new industry got going.
