Taken from
llamrei Reply and I'll give you four fandoms. You then have to make an entry writing about your favorite character from each fandom, and why.
Hetalia- ....this is obvious and slightly awkward. Germany. (._.) I mean, besides the fact I have a massive Thing for German lit, as a character in Hetalia Germany is basically SO FUCKING MOE TO ME.(.______.) I just have an amazingly stupid thing for characters who are super organized, super perfectionist, super control-freaks, but mostly because they are actually ridiculously derpy and insecure (and...fascist for awhile uh jamie why did you make me talk about this). Which I think Hetalia's Germany fits to a tee. I pretty much love his dynamic with Italy because Italy is so not nearly as into it as he is and also because he is an EMOTIONAL IDIOT and there is nothing funnier than the big burly traditional seme type being the dithering girl about it. Also I love that he's portrayed as the sort of person who actually flat out needs rules and control and someone telling him what to do so as not to have a ridiculous meltdown. I think this is ADORABLE. Because I'm SPECIAL LIKE THAT. And I am GENUINELY HOPING HIM AND ITALY GET TO WORK THEIR STUPID DERPY THING OUT IN THIS RIDICULOUS COMIC BECAUSE I AM SORT OF UNIRONICALLY INVESTED IN THEIR NARRATIVE ARC OKAY ANYWAY MOVING ON
Princess Tutu- ...this is a hard one. Fakir is hands down the best written character and probably my favorite because he's just so well used in the series, but I think as far as characters who sort of emotionally got me Rue wins out on this. See the above. Cool elegant perfectionist who's deep down completely convinced no one will ever love her? Um, yes. Poor girl. I don't think her angst is particularly cheap or tiresome either, since a lot of her story is about not falling in love with your own personal tragedy, which I think is something a lot of people tend to fight with in life. It's very easy to live out a sad story, it's a lot harder to accept the possibility of happiness and face the uncertainty that comes with that choice. So Rue accepting her happy ending is seriously one of the most satisfying moments in the series. This is also why Utena has one of my favorite endings in the world I LIKE STORIES THAT ARE ABOUT PUNCHING TRAGEDY IN THE FACE.
Assassin's Creed- ... ... ... does Leonardo da Vinci count? Probably not but, well Leonardo da Vinci. I LOVE HOW HE IS PORTRAYED IN THIS GAME. Alternately: ....Altair's grown on me, the dickhead. I really got into his character very backwards. It was AC2 that really made me like him. But probably not for the reasons the rest of this fandom likes him, as I enjoy his waxing philosophical and his essays on the human condition and also what little hints we get about his relationships with Maria and Malik over the years.
Granted I still think Ezio's got the stronger story/better writing/more concentrated awesome.
I am probably doing it wrong.
Baccano!: Okay, now this is a hard one. I love everyone! (except Graham. I think Graham is stupid and I wish he'd shut up) but if you had to have me pick a favorite...uh. Seriously this is a toss up. Isaac and Miria are pure love? Except that is just them doing their job. Jacuzzi? I love Jacuzzi? Claire just has the coolest concept, Chane is REALLY HOT and I love Firo but he gets very little screentime...in the novels, Firo's definitely my favorite. He's a wily motherfucker but it takes him SEVENTY YEARS TO MARRY ENNIS. Also he is genuinely freaked by what's banging around in his head after he devoured Szilard.
But anime? Maybe I'll say Czes. He goes there with Rue in the catagory of 'characters who I was really glad got a happy end'. Which is funny because he does act like a little jerkass for most of the series! But he's pretty believable in the way he works to the point that when Isaac and Miria work their magic at the end you are just really glad he managed to find people like that after all he's been through (goddamn Claire I like you but WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT) Not to mention I actually love the way he switches between the little kid act and the very bitter and old person he actually is.
(although Jacuzzi's the closest thing to a HERO this series has, if you ask me. You go, bootlegger with a severe anxiety disorder. You DO have a gun in your heart!)
