After 6 hours on the road, we made it to Big Bear Lake, California. Big Bear is the ski resort town to yuppy southern Californians. My parents own a cabin (it belonged to my mom's dad) up in Big Bear! We used to spend weeks up there during the summer--while there was no TV or friends, there was fishing on Big Bear lake, walks along old logging roads and, of course, endless craft fairs. :P I've wanted to go back ever since I was old enough to appreciate the change of pace, but haven't worked it out yet. Oh yes, and my high school had a "winter mountain seminar" up there--we'd spend a week at a camp (devoted mostly to Christian teachings and fellowship), ending with a day of skiing. Good times. ;) I hope you guys have a good time, despite the family drama!

Big Bear has changed a lot since I was a kid. My grandparents have lived up here for years. The town is packed right now with so many people here for the holidays. I actually prefer the summer. Its a tad less jammed and there is more to do (I don't ski).

And thanks for the good wishes, and you too my friend. :-D
