Wow, I really suck at updating

Wow, its been an insanely long time since I've updated so I'm putting it behind the cut.

On the academic front, Monday I officially re-registered for class. I'm actually really excited about it. Don't get me wrong, I have loved sitting on my ass for the last couple of months and I will enjoy sitting on my ass for a couple more but I miss learning. I'm taking Medieval Literature which I withdrew from last time, a prehistoric indigenous art Archaeology class and a History of Ancient Greece class. I'm really looking forward to the history class, I hope it doesn't turn out to suck.

On the home front, Mom isn't doing so well. The last time she went to the Neurologist, which I think was a month ago, she was told that a blockage was forming. They gave her medication but the the blockage means that she is regressing. She is having a lot more trouble trying to speak which is really starting to mess with her morale.

I have a new job around the house which is Cook. My brother came over with his wife a couple of weeks ago and tried to convince my parents to hire some help. His main point was that he thought we needed some one to come in and cook some meals for us so that we wouldn't eat as much take-out as we have been and that it wouldn't fall to Dad to have to pick it up on his way home from work. He explained this to me on Friday after coming over drunk after a birthday party at a friend's house. I swear to God, the only time I seem to have really meaningful conversations with my brothers is when its like 3 in the morning and they are drunk off their asses, weird. Anyways, he said that he needed me to back him up on this because Dad can't cook, I can't cook and Mom can no longer cook. After he left, I got to thinking. I know that Mom and Dad don't want to bring someone that they don't know and they only want to do it if they absolutely have to. Then I got kind of insulted. I can cook, I make a mean ass chili that everyone in the family loves and I aced Home-Ec the two years I took it in High School. If you give me a recipe, I can make it. So I have set a challenge for myself this week. I am going to make 5 different meals. I started on Sunday by making honey-mustard chicken. Everyone loved it and no one got sick so score one for me. Monday I make Gumbo from the leftover chicken, everyone loved it and no one got sick, score two for me. Yesterday I make Tacos. Again, everyone loved it and no one got sick so I'm 3 for 3 at this point. Tonight is Spaghetti with homemade meat sauce. The only dish I have had trouble with so far is the grilled cheese sandwiches that I tried to make my Mom before writing this. Seriously, it is not as easy as Moms around the world make it seem. I had both sides of the bread perfectly browned but cheese didn't melt so Mom put it in the microwave. I think I messed it up because I was making it by the seat of my pants. Give me a recipe and I can make it but if I have to figure it about by myself, things could get ugly. Anyways, the gratitude from my parents and look of utter relief on my Dad's face has made this totally worth it. I mean I have the time and I have discovered that I like it. Plus, I finally found a recipe for banana bread, God I love banana bread.

So that is all the news for now. I will update later tonight to tell how my forth attempt as family dinner maker went.
