This drives me crazy!

I love reading fanfiction, truly, sometimes I enjoy it more than the movie or TV show, ect.  it is based off  of -whatever. I love it, but when writers make sentences like this- it just irks me. I'm not saying i can do it better (because I so can not!) but I feel like the ( Read more... )

I completely agree!

I know my commenting here is completely random but I saw your entry and had to say that I agree. What's sad is that it doesn't just happen in fanfic - I've seen things like that it novels or things. Frustrating!

Thanks for the comment! :) I have kind of turned into more of an LJ lurker than active user of late and your comment was a fun reminder of what I love about LJ.

It really is frustrating. I guess editors don't comment on it because it has been accepted as a common phrase, but I still find it exasperating.

Yeah, I'm a bit the same. I still hang out here quite a bit but I haven't updated my journal or commented in yonks.

And yeah, when I did some writing a little while ago and had someone beta it for me, they just checked my spelling and grammar, which was still helpful, but they didn't challenge or question why I'd used certain phrases instead of others, or why I'd detailed certain things. And whilst I don't think I said anything as unrealistic as this, a few red flags went up when I went back and read what I'd written.
