$15 salad

Went to Austin Land & Cattle tonight to celebrate some birthdays with my friends. Decided to only have a salad for my entree, so I simply asked for the hearts of romaine salad (lettuce, dressing, some walnuts and assorted chopped pepper -- no meat) when the waiter took our order. No way! That's outrageous! So they charged you more for the salad without telling you and without listing the extra charge on the menu?

Indeed!

Even more outrageous, they tired to serve one of us a rum runner that contained grapefruit juice, gin, and exactly zero rum. What's up with that! They did fix that, at least. :)

Evidently the restaurant has a quota to fill per seat, which is, as it strikes me, where you took it. Sure hope you enjoyed the atmosphere with that salad.

I've only been to ALC once and was un-impressed. Granted, the atmosphere is nice, but I can think of other places for that. When it comes to good steak, I'd rather go to TXLC.
