That was a great gift. Don't look at it as being pathetic, but that someone has some faith in you. You can pay it back to someone else.

I'm so sorry! Can you try working some other job, and just start doing haircuts for your co-workers and stuff? Get some stuff under your belt.

Also, it might not make intuitive sense, but can you get a super "walk into new salon" outfit? You can make it out of thrift store pieces, or whatever, but just have something on that says "you will be missing out if you don't hire me?"

It sucks. This economy is as bad as the early 80s, if not worse, and it was a bitch to find a job back then, too. Hang in there. That's the only real advice I can give you.

Well, it's not like I walk into these places looking all shlumpy, you know? And the only stuff I can find in thrift stores that could fit me are ugly men's shirts and muumuus.

I have a couple of people that I've done cuts and color for, and some more are interested, too.

But thank God for my mom's friend Linda, she's hooking me up with her neice who works at the Mall of Georgia. She might be able to help me out. If I'd known about Linda's school I'd have just gone there and stayed at home.

I know you don't! But if you're not a little blonde thing (which I am so not myself) you have to draw attention somehow. Out-fierce 'em.

And I hear you about the thrift store woes. I found two things I liked, and I was ready to throw a party.

I'm happy to hear that people are throwing some jobs your way. And hopefully this new lead will pan out.

Crossing my fingers for you!
