This would be my answer too if I wasn't too lazy to write. American Gods is just the right mix of reality, fantasy, and all things catchy that I can fall in love with. Gaiman has a way of writing that lets you gloss over things you don't understand without loosing the feeling of the scene or story. I found that later in life, re-reading this book, a lot of things jumped out at me that I hadn't noticed the first time.
I'm reading this one right now - for the third time. I don't know if I could continue to read it over and over without getting sick of it, but I really do love it and once a year or so I like to take it out. I just love how Gaiman is so public as well - that he's a mad twittering/blogging person as well as writes fantastic books! I have yet to get into any of his graphic novel work though. Yay for American Gods being so damn popular!
