is there some way to write one of those little polling applets to put in you LJ that would enable people to answer anonymously.

rate me on a scale of 1 - 10 in area a, area b, area c.

and then a few "answer with three words or less" so that their style isn't revealed.

then maybe you can get some honesty.

There is. But people's opinions are more complex. Generally, if someone thinks "asshat, tramp, inarticulate" then you probably already know that, right?

as opposed to those pre-made quizlets that no matter how many times you tell someone the answers are randomly generated or completely general... and they said "i know that"... they still post them day after day and say "wow this one is on the mark!"

i'm thinking more along the lines of a poller that let's people click radio buttons and doesn't record IPs. then i could use averages to determine who thinks i'm an asshat.

The only one I've seen of this type that I actually thought might be quite funny (and so asked the friend in question to comment on me), was one where they describe you using song lyrics and/or film quotes. But other than that, I'd generally agree that people should be wary of things like that and if they can't figure out how to tell people what they think without doing it through these things, then maybe they should spend less time on the computer and actually go out into the real world and try TALKING to people? (Shock horror!)

I've been thinking about this a bit more, actually.

I did have an idea for a meme (though it pains me to say it), which could actually be quite amusing in some instances.

The idea is thus: Go through your LiveJournal friends list, and for each person name the first character (from a TV series, film, whatever) that springs to mind when you think of them. And, er, that's it.

It's trivial enough that casual lying won't matter, twists the whole 'What {Buffy,Angel,Saved by the Bell,South Park,Friends, etc, etc} character am I?" meme on its head, and light-hearted enough that people won't take it too seriously.

As for your last statement... do you mean the Big Blue Room?

I can't believe I got banned from ask_me_anything for the way I voted. I know you reserve the right to ban for any reason, but that was pretty low.

I didn't ban you. I'm listed as moderator for that community pretty much as a joke by the real moderators, who got fed up of me asking who moderated it when they were behaving like twats.
What makes you think you were banned because of how you voted? I assume someone must have told you that? Try taking it up with them? Unless you're just guessing.

Hahaha...I thought you were the moderator, the person that made a vague comment about it was doctor_rogers but I can't ask him about it because I can neither comment in his LJ nor as him in ask_me_anything because I can't post.
