Congrats! That is super-exciting news indeed... what's the deal with your mom, though? Hrmmm, perhaps I shall bravely try to venture onto AIM to see if you're there...

Yeah, I've got partial authorship on some papers of my mom's because I did a lot of grunt work and experiments to help out, but that doesn't help my resume all that much, unfortunately.

Do you think it would have helped more if you were in the field that the paper was talking about?

Right, see, I majored in history. No one really cares that I helped write a scientific paper. It doesn't matter, for historical purposes.
