I hope the busy time hasn't totally worn your legs/feet out. My local sorting office is staying ridiculously late just now. I hope you all get hefty bonuses or overimte or something.
Davis Grubb, Night of the Hunter. Out of the same school, I'd think. It's probably even closer to Flannery O'Connor but I've never read more than maybe one short story by her, not even Wise Blood. I've been getting some overtime. Almost enough to compensate for the unremitting torrents of rain I had to suffer last Friday. I think Auld Reekie dodged them. You get the fire and we get the deluge. Is there something in that? Have been a bit remiss in sending my Xmas cards. You should get mine by Wednesday but if not, it's on its way.
aha! It is on my list now to track down cheap somewhere. In current fiscally squashed times I have become more willing to buy things second hand. I must be getting better at appreciating books though as I recognised the 'southern gothic' style :-)
Currently reading Saul Bellow book which isn't really that style but enjoyable none the less. When I read the Faulkner et al books I think I have a sort of slow Southern drawl narrating in my head but with Bellow, it is Woody Allen :-)
There was one day at some point last week where it rained so much I just gave up trying to walk fast or use an umbrella and surrendered myself to the rain. The last two major fires in Edinburgh have damaged/wiped out the then currently best venue in Edinburgh. Something suspicious there...
I think it'd be seasonally appropriate for a card from you to be late if it doesn't make it in time :-)
