We Built This Village On A Trad Arr. Tune

I'm struggling with this. What's a good non-folk, or even folk, song that could credibly be sung by a woman at a folk group? Preferably something that's on youtube, in a form that someone musical (not me) could readily rearrange for the Bleecker Street audience. The playing might be a bit too fiddly on this but I imagine it could be simplified.
It is my favourite folky/non-folky bit of rock and roll.

Impressive picking. The putative accompanist is a ukulele player, so some simplifying would surely be in order. I'll suggest some other Richard Thompson songs, too - something like She Cut Off Her Long Silken Hair might be a bit easier to cope with.

My mum brought me up with folk music of the 'nice' sort. So I'd have to suggest something by Judy Collins or still a very favourite band of mine, The Seekers. Ah, Judith Durham in the 60s...

According to wikipedia...."In the late 1990s Durham was stalked by her former personal assistant, a woman who sent her dozens of doormats through the post"... hmmmmmm

Any Seekers song but of course 'I'll Never Find Another You' and the tearjerker, 'The Carnival is Over' spring to mind. Both of which I tried to do my own versions of in 2005.

I presume she knows that one but I'll pass it on. Where did I get the idea that Mary Hopkin was in The Seekers?

That's good. I'll pass it on, although I don't know if it can be made to work or not.
