I have a plan for tomorrow's activities. I've got the following in line to make, and most of which will be sent with hubby for his co-workers
( Read more... )
Most sugars have some sort of stabilising factor, cornstarch or wheat derivatives etc etc. Silver Spoon here in the UK doesn't and is produced from beets in the USA look for similar. You can email Co's and they are very good about replying fast if you let them know it's for a coeliac. Icing sugar/Powdered sugar is the worst offender on a GF diet. :/ (Grinding sugar down takes a lot of wellie from your blender if you go that route, burning out the motor in the newer models.)
Well what sort of easy-peasy stuff did you have in mind Hun? Candies? Desserts? Cakes?
I'm not GF my dear, but I have become a scout of things to pass on to those I know who are (you and others.)
I don't really know what I've got in mind, though I guess sweeties is really all that I can think of. This coconut ice is just a sample of the SIMPLE things that apparently are made over there. Maybe I should just save up and head over to look into a candy shop. :D

Love the plan - works for me. (Don't you still work for an airline?)
I must say that I'm not a big fan of English commercial candies and the homemade variety are dying out but there are still recipes to be found. Let me brood a bit.
An easy treat is dipped fruit in chocolate. Peanut brittle, although I think of that as an American candy rather than English. Fondants are quite easy to do and old fashioned - I've a very old Victorian recipe from my Grandma somewhere, you could have with pleasure. Hhhhmmm if memory serves there was a section for making Rum balls too with the fondant and cocoa powder. Easy to make but very messy :P cocoa powder all over your hands!
English toffee is good and rare to find these days. I'll dig around and see if I can find my old recipe for you.

Yeah... Toffee is a good idea too. Things like that, and like turkish delight, and that type of sweetie type thing I guess is what I've got in mind. Plenty of bakers around, but sometimes those other recipes don't take too much real hard work, but they are priceless just because no one does them anymore!

Have a good time baking!

And I've bookmarked the site, but making them will have to wait until I get a rolling pin. (And a kitchen table to work on.)

But a table would be problematic...
