More cat sadness. Feel free to skip this.

More sadness. My parents had their cat put to sleep today. She had chronic pancreatitis and I guess she just stopped eating. So it was time. I'm fine, I just need to vent for a bit.

She was (I think) mostly Bombay. She had shiny black fur and gold eyes. Her official name was Midnight, but we always called her Blackie, Pert or Schmittenz. We got her as a tiny kitten. Our babysitter at that time worked for another family, who discovered a stay cat in their garden shed with a litter of kittens. We got Midnight because my mom said we could get another cat if she was female and shorthair. Midnight was the only female, shorthair of the litter, so we took her. She was closest to my Dad. When he would come home from work each day, she would perk up and run out to the front yard and sit on the top steps and wait for him to pet her. He would constantly spoil her and would even bring a chair to the dinner table so she could eat with us. She had the loudest purr I have ever heard in a cat. You could seriously here it from across the room. She would always purr when you picked her up, hence her nickname Pert. One of the weird things she did was she loved to be out in the rain. Whenever it was pouring down rain, she'd sit on our front porch, watch the rain and get soaking wet. Usually she'd come in late at night, jump on the bed and demand to be petted and dried off. She was also fond of eating insects, them vomiting them up on the rug a couple hours later. She was a weird, sweet, wonderful kitty.
So long Blackie. You were a part of our family for 14 years. We'll miss you.
