I believe he means federally funded healthcare that allows for the Feds to practice collective bargaining (and drive down prices) is the wrong direction. He'll claim it's because he doesn't support socialism but what he really means is he doesn't support eating into the 25% profit margin enjoyed by most drug and managed healthcare companies.

The GOP treats Federally controlled insurance for children to be a wedge issue. If we start giving children actual socialized medicine with the right to negotiate rates and costs, in their minds we'll be a full on Soviet style totalitarian state within fifteen years.

I would LOVE if we had full socialized insurance like Europe and Asia where people see a doctor when they are sick.
