In Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer cartoon, on the Island of Misfit Toys, there is a doll. Why is she a misfit toy? I understand the Charlie in the Box, and I understand the Spotted Elephant, the train with square wheels and the bird that swims, but what's wrong with the doll

Hmmm is right. I haven't seen that cartoon in a while- maybe there is something wrong with her- missing limb, some other kind of "handicap" that would make her a "misfit" (Still not very P.C.)? I don't know. I'd have to see it again and take a closer look.

And speaking of the Rudolph cartoon, I hope I get Linda Eder's Christmas concert DVD (the one that was on Bravo) because she does a gorgeous rendition of Clarice's little song, "There's Always Tomorrow"

The doll was labeled a misfit toy because she didn't do anything. All of the other dolls wet or talked or walked but she was just a basic doll, and hence, a misfit.

for a sec i though the doll was spotted but it is the elephant (thanks michelle). Do you that CVS made really nice ornaments from the movie one year and thanks to my mom hunting them down, I have every one. One for each toy, one for cornelius, rudolph, the dentist elf, rudolph's lady friend, and the abominable snowman. Alas, since I have no tree of my own, they are still packed away but I promise, once I have my own place, they will be on full display and everyone can come and discuss them.

Don't you just love those old Xmas claymation cartoons? Rudolph is my favorite because it is just so silly. It makes me roll over with laughter. I like the YEar without a santa claus too, with the HEatmiser and Jack Frost. Oh, how funny. I love claymation!

ABC family has 25 hours of Christmas marathons where they play nothing but these claymation and old Christmas cartoons. I watched the year w/o santa clause- never saw it before- too funny! Look for it on channel 49 (or ABC Family)..

One of the best claymation xmas specials is the one with the California Raisins (obviously from the 80s!)!! And of course you can't go wrong w/Charlie Brown, but Rudolph is a classic, I like to refer to the wierdos in my dept at work as the "mifit toys", lol
