I got an e-mail today from the public information officer for the University Police Department (she's the Public Relations person for the department if you aren't sure) on campus about my article I wrote for Wednesday's paper. It basically made my day and it meant a lot to me that she would take the time to write it. Here's what it said:

Ha ha ... I'm actually back on my junior college newspaper, because I'm taking a few photo classes and thought it would be fun to refresh myself with the copy editing class. The newspaper isn't what it used to be, but it can regain the greatness. Stupid funding cuts, bleh! I redesigned the paper, and I'm happy with it so far. I'll definitely let you know when the next issue is posted (in a couple of weeks, because they took the cuts out earlier, rather than later). I liked how the first one came out, but I'm a perfectionist. :)
Anyway, it's always great to hear those compliments, especially from sources. Congrats!

Well, good luck with the redesigning and what not of the newspaper! Sounds like a job! You'll have to definitely let me know when the next issue is posted! I look forward to seeing it!
And it's SO great to hear compliments from a source! Especially when apparently the newspaper has had issues in the past with the police department on campus! She's a great source to be able to have contact with!
