I've bottle fed young lambs and kids (i.e., goats). I've also seen goats being born. To me they looked like long-eared puppies but with hooves. Yeay, developmental bio/phylogenetics! ;)
Never played with any marsupial mammals, though, not even with opossums. :(
My dad got me interested in flying in the spring of my senior year of high school. I think it's neat that you witnessed goat births. I love furry animals. I thought about taking part in Montgomery County's 4H club so I could get involved with doing stuff like that, but as much as I wanted to, it wasn't worth my parents' time and my jurisdiction had rules about no farm animals as domestic pets so I don't know where I'd have kept the animals. Also, it's easier to play with marsupials if you happen to be in their niche. Otherwise, you have to find a petting zoo in the US that has them and I haven't yet; and I've been to several petting zoos. I think it might be that they don't like being so far away from the equator. (-; If you care enough to look at the pictures, the website of me and a lot of other people playing with marsupials is http://www.breger.net/anz/index.htm. Enjoy.
The trip to Hawaii was in honor of my brother's high school graduation. The trip to Australia, New Zealand, and Easter Island was in honor of mine. By our college graduations my parents were broke and we haven't taken a family vacation since, so at least we've got good memories. (-;
As for the name thing - UGH! My name on my birth certificate is Julia. My parents shortened it to Julie from day one. I decided in fifth grade I HATED being called Julie and I wanted to be called Julia. I was able to retrain teachers and in middle school and introduced myself to people as Julia, but I never got it through to my family. My brother reacted by crying and saying I couldn't change my name. My mom informed him that I wasn't actually changing my name, since Julia IS my name. It didn't make her or my dad, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins, etc listen to me though. Julie just seems to be a natural shortening. I have had professors on the first day of class call me Julie and I'd correct them because it bugs me.
