Interesting news video from necn.com. The jist of this is Joel offered to settle twice to find the RIAA then countered with a payment of more than double what Joel had offered. Didn't the RIAA recently announce they wouldn't be filing more suits, as the settlements weren't making up for their expenses? They're finishing active cases, but then ... ?

They plan to go after ISPs to get downloaders. The case in the video has been going on since 2003, but it sets a huge precedent, specifically in the amount per file the RIAA can sue for. If the SRP of one song is roughly $1, how can they charge $10,000 or more per track ( ... )
