I read the lyrics before listening to the music, and expected it to be like hiphop or 21st century rock, not like 1964 pop. Don't like the music. Love the lyrics... it's like he's writing snappier words for my pep talk of doom. This is like what guys I flirt with are thinking when the words out of their mouths are polite deflections. It helps to remember this stuff to avoid humiliation.

I liked the contrast between the rather "soulful" (maybe "syrupy?) romantic music and the slap in the face lyrics. This sort of twist is actually a major feature of certain classes of Korean poetry, which is what drew me to it (think Dorothy Parker in a hanbok . . .)

I wish I had a version written from a woman's perspective to sing to fat, balding guys whose idea of intellectual stimulation is watching Monday Night Football. For some reason, men all think that they are attractive to every female on the planet. They all want someone 20-something with a good body, who will also earn the money and do all the housekeeping. Being single is a big step up from that! I think it's a great set of lyrics and I'd love to hear some other artists doing their interpretations of it. It could be hilarious as a hip hop song. Glad you liked it. ;)
