This is gonna be a blast

Dr. Arkham was a nice guy to meet. Really professional, but he welcomed me and was really understanding about my situation. He even said he might be able to swing me into some meetings, maybe let me watch some recordings so I'm still getting an education on the place. He set me up with a journal account in the system, too, which I guess you guys ( Read more... )

A "nice guy"? I don't think you met the same Dr. Arkham.

He seemed okay to me. Stressed, but he runs an asylum, you know? Has to be hard on him.

Well, perhaps I was afforded a different vision of him as an inmate.

Oh, you're-- oh! Man, I didn't realize you were-- oh, wow. ...Hey, you're one of the guys who escaped, right? Wow, I didn't realize these journals connected to the outside, too. That's a trip.

Oh, I'm sure.. Killer Croc will make quite a mess for you. Um, just don't let him eat you. He tried to eat me a few times while I was in there.

Yeah, some of the other guys have been warning me about that.

...Wait, like really eat me?

It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm an intern here, Sally Marquez.

Hey, you are? Good to meet you. I'm Cristo. A lot of my friends call me Chris. So do you go to GSU too?

Yep. Majoring in medicine and psychology. What about you?

Psychology and sociology. I'm in my sophmore year. Do you live on campus or in the city?

How've you liked interning here so far? I'm really excited about just being able to clean the place.

Why on earth would you want to watch recordings of the goings on at Arkham? You're not an intern, are you? Anyway, you should get quite an education the first few days. I understand there are certain rituals the floor staff subject newcomers to.

No, I'm not an intern this year. Maybe if I can save up enough money I'll be able to take that time off work, but I wasn't able to afford it. College student budget, you know? So I thought getting a job here would still keep me close without making me go bankrupt.

Yeah? Haha, like some of the fraternity stuff, I got you. When I worked in a restaurant back home we did the same sort of thing. Gave the new guy the worst tables to bus, had him take care of spills. Like a bonding thing.

Good to meet you by the way, Dr. Crane.

Indeed.

Bonding. Is that what they call it these days? I suppose so. I would be careful, though. Arkham is really nothing like a restaurant, and a fraternity only in the sense that's dangerous and full of barely rational humans.

I am not necessarily speaking of the patients.

Well I thought that's what it's supposed to be about. Everyone has to go through the rough time, so everyone's linked through it. They can all look back and laugh at it later, and feel good that they did it even when it got tough. I've heard they do stuff like that in the army too. Not that a restaurant or Arkham's like the army.

Thanks for the heads up, though. I'm here to learn more than anything else, so I'm open to whatever advice you can give.

Thanks. That's what I'm here for, so it should be interesting. Do you work at Arkham?

Thankfully, no. Not exactly the kind of place a Wayne should hang out, if you ask me.

A Wayne? As in the people who own Wayne Enterprises?
