Unknown Armies: This Shit Just Got Real

I don't think I've ever found myself so mentally exhausted after a game as I did after last night's session. I suppose I could best describe it as 'RAM heavy', as I held in mind multiple interpretations, including my own, of a World Plot that stretched to Past, Present, and Future. Totally worth it though as I feel we now stand, after over a year and a half of gameplay, at where I wanted us to be. Almost. Still a couple more things I need to draw in...
Oh, and I feel a bit of a public service announcement is called for...

Hey folks.

#hesitates#

...actually no.

I was going to comment on the apparent similarities between the Big Plot that certain revelations and information sharing have painted, and the fantasicm of one Suzanne O'Leary. Maybe I still will, but I think I'll let people believe what they like about any causal links, as it really doesn't matter at this point.

There are some pithy statements I could have described the campaign in back when it got going that still hold true:
* Something Big is going down in Chicago, and it draws freaks and wyrd-followers from all over.
* The urbanomancers are many, and organised, and have a common purpose.
* The True King of Chicago, James K McGowan VI, seeks to cause the ascension of the non-human archetype of The City.

There is also the fact that one of the original PCs set their obsessions and motivations so that they had their own, personal plans for Chicago, ones that would not sit well with anyone else's Big Plans to stir men's blood.

Now, either the PCs' plans came first and the game was built around them, or a Plan with a certain acceptable elasticity was laid down and the characters just happened to fit in a way that was going to rub up against one of the most powerful cabals in the setting. The former is an acceptable and indeed recommended approach for running a long term game. The latter relies on that weird recurring synchronicity, and is hi-larious.

Either way, the facts as revealed stand, and we move on from this point.
On that note, at least some amongst you will take my meaning when I make the following analogy:

You have just completed Disc 1.

Now the game proper begins.

unknown armies, the game
