I had some contact with Gina 7 years ago when we were trying to stop building work on County Field and she couldn't do enough to support us, she's not someone who equivocates and prevaricates, she gets in and does things.
From my perspective it's not so much about them voting against the party line so much as the nuances within the party line. Take the Conservatives and the EU, for instance - there is a huge swathe of variety within the party as to whether MPs are pro, cautious, or sceptic. I'd go further than saying Stuart Langhorn's 'a bit wet'. He also campaigned to shut down the market, and give large portions of council tax money to a budget supermarket in order to entice them to come here (I think it was a 'gift' of half a million, plus free rent for a year, as well as paying to have the building renovated). Which puts me in an awkward position, because I'd like to vote Lib Dem, but he's really such a dick that I don't want him as my MP. Thanks for a fine and balanced update, it's inspiring to see someone talk openly about so many of the parties and candidates.
I am very much torn in this election. There are four parties that I could vote for, but all have some policies that I don't support. Combining that with candidates puts me somewhere between Eric and Gina. The local LibDems have been endeavouring to take chunks out of the Greens over the market issue, and both of them have been publishing carefully selected past election results to show that they are doing so much better than the other.
