I adore my Kindle. it didn't take too long to get used to reading off the screen and I love being able to change my text size on the fly if I'm misplaced my reading glasses.
I usually read SF&F, but also lean toward supernatural romance/horror. Big fan of Carrie Vaughn and Rachel Vincent.
I actually thought the page-turning aspect of it was going to be my problem. The black-flash-to-next-screen thing spooked my eyes something awful the first few times I flipped a page, but it turns out that I got just so used to it I don't notice at all. :)
Being near-sighted, I usually read books without my glasses, so I may look into bumping up the text size, because it's an awkward thing to just hold closer to my face. XD; I ... kinda forgot it did that. XD;;
Mmm, I <3 SF, especially Golden Age writing, and quite a lot of pulp Swords & Sorcery type things. Not so much the "I HAVE A MAGIC DRAGON!!!" as "I have a penis and a sword, and I will slay monsters with one, the other, or both. Marvel at my chest hair, fellow MAN-COMPANIONS!" Fritz Leiber is my hero.
I'm actually devouring a lot of classics right now that I never would've known existed without the Kindle, mostly because I don't get paid for another week, so I'd better find something to occupy me toot quick about it. Letters of a Woman Homesteader was fantastically

I have a Kindle! You should read Ben Franklin's autobiography. I think the only non-free book I have is Water For Elephants cause it was super on sale. It's pretty good if you want to borrow it. Join booklending.com too! I recommend the Pixel Perfect Puzzles game - don't play it too long or you'll feel like you have carpal tunnel.
I've wanted to read Water for Elephants for some time (before it became a movie >_>; ), but I haven't gotten around to it. Thanks for reminding me it exists so I can fill my brain with that. :D
I shall check out booklending.com -- and I promise not to give myself carpal tunnel because of it. XD;;
D'oh, I can't loan you Water For Elephants cause it only allows lending once (ever!), and I gave it to a stranger through BookLending.com. It's a good story though, probably worth the current 7 bucks.
I wonder if it's all books or just some books that are like that? *headtilt* It doesn't make much sense (and simultaneously makes plenty of sense) the way the lending system is set up. *thoughtful* :\
Oh well. I was kind of planning on owning it eventually, anyway. :)
I do love my Kindle. <3 My sister and I both have one, so I'll mention that we have one more prospective swap partner. ;) I haven't been reading much lately except for junky Preston/Child books. *shifty look* Also, since I started playing Portal 2, I've been living on my PS3.
(Speaking of which, if you talk to Quis, tell her I am so bummed that I finally get a game and she isn't online so I can blab about. XD)
Anyway, congrats on the new purchase! I mourn the loss of my Borders, but thank god for Amazon.com...
You've got Quissie as a potential swap partner, too, don't forget. Though, she's told me she's only going to read free books on it for a very long time. :) So it may be one-way lending. Lol.
Qui's been spare since her family got a puppy from the SPCA, but I've passed your message along, and hopefully she'll e-mail you sometime. :D
I know, I weep for the loss of my Borders - it was our NaNoWriMo meeting spot! D: Now we'll have to find a new one. ._. Sigh.
I'm waiting for Amazon to carry kindle versions of some of my favorite books, so that maybe I can get rid of some of the masses of books on my shelves... XD;; (perish the thought) and (gasp, le horror!) make room for the OTHER piles of books that're all over the house. XD;;;
Yeah, there are totally some books I have that I would get for Kindle and get rid of the paper copies. Then I could save that space for the things I want in giant, hardcover tomes...
Will have to start keeping a list of Kindle books I can lend out online for you guys. <3
That's a great idea - the list! Though Lauer ( candyatthepeak ) reports that she can't lend a book a second time. *headtilt at* So that may be something to look into. >_>;
