HELL YES!! Now for Prop 8 to fail. I'm concerned it was misunderstood. Is a vote yes a yes to letting gays marry or to not allow it? (I know, it's a yes to the ban.) But from what I've been reading around, a lot of people are confused.
i could see how it'd be possible to be confused...
on the other hand if people took three fucking seconds to read the measure, they'd figure it out. it's not that fucking hard.
i'd like to think it's all a giant misunderstanding, cuz that would be nicer than thinking that the US is full of hundreds of thousands of homophobic douches, but i know that's not the case.
i think it's gonna pass. awesome.
and bans on gay marriage propositions have already basically passed in arizona and florida. also, in arkansas gay couples are now officially banned from adopting.
As I replied in my LJ: Well, since our state polls prior to the election were phrased as, "Should gays have the right to vote?" and a yes-vote meant yes, they should get to marry, and then, on the ballot, a yes-vote meant the opposite, I'll bet there was a lot of confusion. And I'm not pinning this on "stupid voters" for once.

I wouldn't be surprised if the homophobe coalition behind this was aiming for confusion. I hope it's challenged in court. There's no fucking reason to ban gay marriage. Is it because they can't have biological children? Well, why not ban infertile straight people, or invalidate the marriages of those who don't have kids within two years? That's the only "argument" I can see (the "it's to have children" argument).
