"Morning Mister Ed!" Mordent chirruped happily, playing with Cadence on the living room rug. "Watch out, don't trip over Breve, he'll eatcha."
"Pigs don't eat humans, Mordie." Ed sighed, doing up his tie. "No matter what your Dad says."
"Mad pigs do!" The little girl giggled, crawling army style after the only female pig.
Ed didn't bother trying to reason with Mordent - if he thought Alex was stubborn, it was nothing compared to his daughter - and raced to the hall to pick up his shoes. He promptly stopped when they made a sloshing noise. "MORDENT CECELIA DAVIES!" He roared. "YOUR F- STUPID PIG HAS PEED IN MY SHOES AGAIN!"
"Pee is a bad word." Mordent said sagely.

Teddy paid for this line of though by being hit in the face with a snowball. "Bastian, what the hell has got into you?"
His stepson crept up to stand beside him and tugged at his hand. The cellist bent down. "We had Sunny D." Curtis said hoarsely in his quiet voice.
"Oh God, Bastian!" The man groaned.
"An, an Tannii called me Seb!" The little boy stamped his feet. "I don't like Seb, my name is Bastian! Not Seb, not not not not Seb!"
Teddy winced, grabbing hold of his son before he danced into the road. "Just what I need." He grumbled. "Another Oscar."

Okay, okay... a little Minties date during their school days, early on in the relationship.

"Alright, see you." The Japanese boy high-fived the one he'd been talking to and returned to Alex, who was blushing heavily now. "C'mon you." He pushed the younger boy's hair off his forehead and put his arms around the other.
Alex didn't think he could get any redder when Ed bent him down and kissed him deeply. "Ok, ok." He mumbled, aware of the wolf-whistles and Teddy watching them impassively.
"Love you." Ed took his hand.
"Really?" The younger violinist felt a smile grow on his face. "Love you too."

"We're having a competition." Sebastian said solemnly. The littlest boy just giggled, and dropped Dinah's alarm clock into the bath.
"WE BE SAWDING WHICH ONE FLOATS!" Oscar roared, clapping his hands. "No float! Write it down, Professah Sebastian!"
"Sebastian!" The girl whined. "Oscar! Stop throwing my toys in the bath! You'll break - IS THAT MY TANK?"
"It floats." Sebastian grinned at her.
"Papa! PAPA!" Dinah screeched. "They're breaking my stuff!"
"Ok..." Their father sighed. "Coming..."

"Ssh." Teddy whispered, kissing the top of his head. "Ssh, Oscar, it's ok sweetie."
"Why does it matter that me and Oscar are different colours?" Sebastian asked, breaking the silence. "We're still brothers, aren't we?"
"Of course you two are. You're all brothers - apart from Dinah, because she's your sister." The cellist cuddled his son a bit closer, feeling protective like a mother lion.
"What's adobted?" Oscar whispered hoarsely.
"It's when someone chooses a child to be theirs." The man thought a bit after talking, his two sons looking at him in confusion. "It's not a bad thing. But you're not adopted, well..." He sighed. "You'll understand when you're older."
