"It'll only be for a few weeks, we needed an emergency placement for her, she needs to be around-" Teddy held up a hand, cutting the social worker off with a practiced look.
"It's fine. She won't be worse than Aaron's teenaged moods, we'll be ok, we're used to two year olds, don't you worry." His boyfriend recited, bending down to look Francesca in the eye. She was Italian looking, with her dark hair scraped into two pigtails and her eyes massive and dark brown. "Hey, I'm Ali."
"'Lo." She looked at him sceptically, sizing him up, before calmly taking his hand and biting down on it.
"C'mon." Teddy pulled her up into his arms. "Time you met the rest of the kids."

"You are not wearing that." Alex looked his daughter up and down, his arms folded. "Mordent Cecilia Davies, go upstairs and change, you look-"
"Everyone wears this." The blonde girl folded her arms in retaliation, and jutted out her jaw. "How about I wear a habit, Dad, will that be appropriate?"
"Don't cheek me, go up and-"
"No." Mordie stomped towards the door.
"Mordent Davies!"
"Fuck off, Dad. Grow up, go and fuck Ed or something!" She sneered, slamming the door behind her.
"Bastian, please!" Curtis grabbed his friend's arm. "You didn't hear it right, it was-"
"Taken out of context?" The skinnier boy rounded on him angrily. "It wasn't what I thought? I knew this wasn't a proper date, but I deserve more than a fucking pity one!"
"Bastian-"
"I'm tired of this." Sebastian said softly, tucking his long brown hair behind his ear. "You make me sick, Curtis Conrad. You're practically a second generation Mordie."

"Reading, Frankenstein, can you..." He trailed off as the little girl climbed up into his lap and looked curiously at his book.
"S'about?" Frankie queried, tilting her head. She picked up Aaron's hand and bit gently in welcome.
"Well... it's about this guy called Richard, and his family are fighting for the throne, and he's, like, fifteen? And he's fighting a lot and-"
"Die? Blood?" The little girl cut across him.
"Uh, yeah, I guess..." He bit his lip.
"Read to me." She commanded, patting the bitemarks on his hand. "Now."
