My back is aching! I just spent the last few hours digging dirt and planting the
:
2 x Holly
shrubs in front of the house (named Prince Shrek and Princess Fiona thanks to the suggestion of my favorite 7 year old neighbour)
1 x Dogwood
(with pale green and white leaves and brilliant red stems that will look SO pretty in the winter peeking out of the snow)
1 x variegated ornamental grass (and moved 4 x last years grasses to make way for the shrubs)
1 x Clematis
-to climb the new (old) shed
2(3?) x columbine
2 x coral bells
1 x campanula
1 x euonymous
-to climb the other corner of the shed
1 x pretty purple viola
1 x something i lost the tag to and forget
3 x something my mom gave me from her garden
1 x black hollyhock
1 x dianthus
Next step: plant veggie garden.
Lettuce planted-check!
Carrot, pumpkin seeds to plant-check!
Chives, Sage and Lavender to transplant-check!
Still needed: tomato, cucumber, zucchini transplants!
Edited to say: THANK YOU TO
blugrassgirl for giving me her wheels today to get to the garden center(s).
Next next step: order SOD! Instant lawn!
Final step: take socks off, run on lawn, fall down, roll around (just because I can without fearing nails and glass) and just fucking RE-LAX and rejoice.... because finally the yard has given up it's 5 year habit of LOOKING LIKE A CONSTRUCTION DUMPSTER!
I guess I should charge the batteries for the camera and take some snaps so I can see the growth at the end of the season! I am SO happy right now.
