The spoon clatters to the floor. “God, Swan, what is this stuff?”
Emma turns, to see him hastily swigging rum from his flask. “What was what?”
“That.” He waves a hand at the stove top. “It was …” He takes another swig from his flask, “That.”
Pulling her hair into an bun before she bends down, she scoops the spoon from the floor. “Did I make it wrong?” She reaches for the recipe on the counter but she stops reading when she hears …
“Wrong!?” He splutters. “Wrong!?” He stands straight(er), “It's all wrong, Swan. To begin? It's not bloody rum! And it's hot.”
“It's mulled wine,” Emma replies and he shakes his head.
“Mulled … wine?”
“To each their own, I suppose,” he mutters as he pushes himself away from the counter.
“Where are you going?”
“To drink.” He opens the door.
“Let me guess: rum?”
“Aye!” He says as he closes the door behind him.
“Okay,” Emma says as she reaches for a pen. “No mulled wine.”
