We have weekly meetings to discuss characters and plots, and those definitely help to keep things moving. I can't even begin to imagine writing either of these games alone.

I will try the music thing. I usually avoid it while writing because it's distracting, but I think if I try music in a different language like you suggested, or music without lyrics, that might help. Thanks for the tips!

I have a similar experience with this sort of process. The thing that keeps me going is focusing on how good it will feel once it's done and people are having fun playing it and telling me how awesome it is that I wrote it. :-)

Having a deadline that someone else is expecting me to have stuff done by is crucial for me, because what usually gets me through the Tedium is Fear. I have an intense fear of missing deadlines, and even though I may procrastinate until an hour before something is due, the Fear will ultimately get it done. If I don't have a deadline, however, all bets are off.
